Digital Security Cameras

The last time you went away for the weekend, you thought something wasn't the same as it was when you returned. Or, perhaps you live in a rural area and have a rather lengthy driveway and would prefer to know who is driving up the driveway well in advance of the knock on your door. Or maybe you would just feel more secure, knowing that something is monitoring your store when you go home for the evening. If you want to see what is going on when you aren't there, it sounds like a digital security camera may be your answer.

Digital Security Cameras

A digital security camera can be either full motion video or digital still "photographs", the type depending on the activity that you wish to monitor. Either type can be "wired" or "wireless" depending where you would like to place the cameras and how visible you want them to be. Keep in mind that wireless cameras may be susceptible to interference from other wireless devices and the surviellance could be intercepted by others that could receive the wireless signal. Digital security cameras range in size from a "pin hole" type that could be hidden just about anywhere, to the larger box-like cameras that are generally used outside when people know they will be under surviellance. Also, remember that there are laws for each state governing how, when, and where you must post notifications of video surviellance.

Digital security cameras differ from analog security cameras in that their signal is purely digital. This means that you can view the picture in real-time (like an analog camera) or the pictures can be saved to a variety of digital devices including personal computers, CDs and DVDs, and digital video recorders (DVRs). Analog cameras, on the other hand, must use film or video tape recorders. Also, it is easy to control the frame rate (number of pictures taken per unit of time) of digital cameras, thus using the least necessary amount of storage space.

Using a digital security camera, you can easily and economically monitor your home while you are away for the weekend (or even view it on a computer over the internet in real-time), know who is coming up the driveway, or keep track of your store while you are away.
